Spring Garden

Hello, it is another beautiful, sunny, spring day. I am looking forward to visiting the garden center later  to pick up a few early spring plants.  I am so happy to see the tulips coming into bloom all through the neighbourhood and I think my card today has been partly inspired by all of the pretty spring gardens.

I will be needing a few birthday cards this week so I figured I had better get started. For this card I have used one of my favourite Tildas from last spring and coloured her up in some bright spring colours to match with the beautiful Piccadilly line of papers from Basic Grey. Once again the layout has been based on an older sketch but I have given it a few modifications in order to add all of the pretty extra details that add to the bright spring garden feel of the card.

Once again, I have finished off the inside using bits and pieces of co-ordinating papers.

I hope that you have enjoyed your visit. Have a great day!

Baby Dreams

Good afternoon, it was gorgeous and sunny and I am hoping that there will be more of the same tomorrow. I had a baby shower to attend this afternoon and I thought that I would pop by and share the card that I made to welcome the new little one. I have a few showers to attend over the next few weeks so there are sure to be a few more baby cards to follow.

This card came about as a bit of a happy accident. I was following an old sketch attempting to make a background for another image that I had coloured but when I had the card base all assembled, the image that I had did not fit well so I decided that the colours of these gorgeous Marjolaine papers from Basic Grey would be fitting for the baby card that I required.

Here is a close up of the gorgeous LOTV image that I coloured to match the card base.

And a shot of the inside congratulations message as well. I am not in the habit of completing the inside of the card at the same time but I really love the look I achieved by using the scraps of papers to finish off the inside. I think that I might need to try to do this more often.

I hope that you have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will visit again tomorrow as I have another card almost ready to share.

Charisma DT - Blue, Black and White

Good morning, I hope that you are having a good week. I am back today with my card for the  new Charisma Cardz challenge.

Our fabulous sponsors this week are
Digistamp Boutique

who are offering 6 individual digis as a prize to one lucky winner!

Crafty Emmas

who are offering one winner a £10 voucher (excluding p&p) to their online shop!

I have tried something a little different this week and went for a CAS card.To make the background I have used a new Crafter's Workshop stencil that I picked up at Scrapfest the other week and smooshed some varying shades of blue distress ink through it. I softened the edges with more distress ink blended over top. The flower silhouettes are from Hero Arts and they have been heat embossed over top. After matting the card, I added an embossed sentiment to finish it off.

I hope that you like the end result and that you have been inspired to step out of your comfort zone or at least give our colour challenge a try. Be sure to stop by the challenge blog and see the rest of the DT creations.

Times to Cherish

Good morning, I hope that you are all off to the start of a wonderful week. The temps have dropped a lot around here over the last few days and in some parts of Ontario north of here they have actually received quite a dumping of the pesky white stuff. They can keep it, I want spring.

I just thought that I would pop by and quickly share a card with you today before I head off for work. This card came about almost by accident (well a card of some type or another would have come of it). I had coloured up the image a few days before and I was playing around making some card blanks based on some older sketches. I happened to set this image on top of the card to check sizing and low and behold it suited the card perfectly. I have accented the card with some punched leaves and butterflies and a few co-ordinating flowers to quickly finish it off.
I must say, I was happy with how easy it was.

Thanks for stopping by. I love hearing from you, so please leave a little comment to let me know you were here. I will be back in the next day or so with another card to share.

H is for Hardware and a DT Call

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the Way.

Good Morning, I hope that you are all having a great week. We have another fun challenge starting today over on the ABC Christmas Challenge. This week it is Samantha's turn to host and she has chosen the theme
H is for Hardware
so we want to see all of those great metal embellishments that you have been saving.

We are sponsored this week by our very own Lacey who has generously offered one lucky winner a $25.00 voucher to her store Stamp and Create.

This week we are also having a DT call so if you want to be a part of our friendly little group, be sure to stop by the challenge blog for all of the details.
Now I don't know about you but when I think of metal embellishments these days I think of all of the great creations by Tim Holtz. Having just finished his online class Creative Chemistry, I was eager to have a go this week in creating something with a Tim Style.

This tag only took three tries, the first two attempts ended up in the trash bin but I am rather please with how this one turned out. I have used alcohol inks to create the background which has just a touch of shimmer to it thanks to some metallic gold mixed in. On top of that I have added several stamped images to the background.

Then came the fun part. I had the reindeer all ready to go from a previous project that never panned out. I inked the edges and mounted it onto the tag, The red swirl was cut from red glitter paper and then mounted to the tag from behind. The bow has been fashioned from seam binding that has been inked with various green distress inks and although it is a different colour than the tag, it really does look lovely IRL. I added some bells to the bow using a jump ring and then as I still felt that something was missing I added the little charm using a mini paper clip.

I hope that you will join us. Before you head off to start creating be sure to stop by the challenge blog and see all the rest of the beautiful DT creations.

Hello, it has been a wonderful weekend full of fun. I took a day off work Friday to attend Scrapfest in Kitchener and had a blast. I will see if I can snap a pic of all my goodies tomorrow.
I also received word on Friday from Simon Says Stamp that my Distress Markers have finally arrived and are now on their way to me. Woo Hoo, I can't wait to play with them.
Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and it will be back to work tomorrow.

I have a card to share with you today. This one features Tilda with Rubber Boots and although I got this stamp last spring, I do believe that this is the first time it has ever been inked up. I decided that this image would be perfect for a challenge or two so I have coloured her up and then paper pieced her bow, dress and boots using some remnant of Basic Grey papers.

The bright and cheery flowers and the butterflies add the perfect spring touches to complement this image and in a rare occasion, I have actually added a sentiment using the Tim Holtz tattered banners die and a freebie stamp.

I hope that you have had a wonderful weekend. Thanks so much for popping by.

Under the Sea

Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me

Good evening, I hope that you are all enjoying a wonderful week. I wanted to stop by and share a card with you tonight. This card features Little Mermaid Tilda who was part of last year's Bon Voyage collection. She reminds me of Ariel from The Little Mermaid so this time around she has been coloured up with that as inspiration.

I was going for a sort of soft shabby chic look, not sure that I have really pulled that off but I wanted a card with lots of texture and pretty pastels. This is the first time that I have used cheesecloth, I have been loving the texture that it added to the cards that I have been seeing in blogland and wanted to give it a try although it has almost gotten lost under all the layers of floral texture and bling that have been added on top. In the end though, I am really pleased with the way that this card has turned out.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that you will leave a little comment so that I will know that you were here.I am getting close to 100 followers now so be sure to keep an eye out here as I think that I will have a little followers candy in the coming days.

Easter Greetings

Good day, I hope that you are all having a wonderful Easter Sunday and the Easter bunny was good to you.. It is such a beautiful and sunny day and you can tell that spring is here. I have the turkey in the oven and my parents are coming for a visit later this afternoon.

Before they arrive I thought that I would pop on and share with you a card that I have made just for today.

I was playing with some masking the other week and inked up a whole bunch of my favorite Magnolia images at that time. Now I am ready any time that I want to sit down and colour. For today's card Tilda has been coloured to match a bunch of paper scraps that were on my desk, it is always easier to use them up rather than put them away.

To keep it nice and airy I have layered in a lace doily and the Metal embellishment in the corner has been painted white for a sort of shabby chic feel. I have added in a cheery spring floral arrangement of flowers from Wild Orchid crafts and topped it off with a butterfly which is something that we have not seen yet around here but I am sure they will be back soon with this wonderful weather that we have been having.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy Easter!

G is for Gold and White with a Touch of Green

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday. The week is half over and in just two more days we will start a long holiday weekend. Can you tell that I am looking forward to it.

This is also the start of another ABC Christmas Challenge and this week Lacey has chosen the theme
G is for Gold and White with a Touch of Green

Once again, we have two great sponsors this week,
with a fab $15 voucher excluding postage.
Photobucket
andElizabeth Craft Designs with a prize of
3 Sheets of Gold Christmas Outline Stickers

I have gone with a rather clean and simple card this week, opting to emboss this large sentiment. The little snowflakes around the sentiment were done with perfect pearls and also shimmer in the light but it is difficult to tell in this photo. A dry embossed background and some sparkle paper accents were all that was needed to complete this one.

I hope that you will join us for the challenge. I look forward to seeing your gorgeous creations. Before you head off to start, be sure to stop by the challenge blog and take a look at the rest of the wonderful DT creations.

Fairy Magical Hugs

Good Evening, I am late with the post that I promised for the weekend. Where do they seem to go. I do actually have a few cards ready to share so hopefully I will have the chance over the next few days..

The first card that I want to show you features the image Never to Old for a Hug from LOTV. I am sure that you will see it here quite a bit as it really is a sweet image perfect for so many occaisions.
I had seen the wings coloured in rainbow colours on the LOTV DT blog and decided to give it a go. I quite like how it turned out.

This card is a happy accident of sorts. I was playing around making up some cards based on older sketchs and happend to lay this image on top only to discover that it was a perfect fit. It is not often that a card comes together this easily.

I want to thank you for stopping by, be sure to pop back in the morning as I have another ABC Christmas card to share.
